Facilitated by Ana Aragon, this Masterclass is designed to enable occupational therapists to enhance their existing skills and confidence in managing patients who present with any form of Parkinsonism in acute or community settings. This masterclass has been mapped against the RCOT Career Development Framework and is suitable for level 6 and above.
Learning objectives
- To provide participants with the knowledge and skills to deliver evidence-based, condition-specific interventions for people with Parkinson’s’ and related movement disorders
- To increase awareness of relevant policy, best practice guidelines and other sources of information
- To enable occupational therapists to enhance their existing skills and confidence to manage patients who present with any form of Parkinsonism in acute or community settings
The Trainer
Ana qualified in 1989 as an occupational therapist. Following a variety of in-patient roles, Ana worked in a Consultant led, multi-disciplinary specialist service for people with Parkinson’s and related movement disorders from 1996 until 2007. In this role she provided assessment and rehabilitation services for around 700 people with Parkinson’s.
Since 1997 Ana has studied Parkinson’s at length and contributed to; 4 books, 2 national Parkinson’s disease guideline development projects, Occupational Therapy for Parkinson’s research projects, training events and conferences around the UK and in Sydney, Australia. With her co-author Jill Kings Ana’s has published and recently updated the Occupational Therapy for people with Parkinson’s; Best Practice guidance (2010, 2018). Ana now works independently and is a Consultant for Parkinson’s UK.
