An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Therapist, Community Nurse or other Allied Health Professional to work with the Healthy London Partnership’s Proactive Care Programme in a unique role. The Fire as a Health Asset national agenda, led by NHS England, Chief Fire Officers Association, Public Health England, Local Government Association and Age UK, aims to extend home safety checks already carried out by the London Fire Brigade (LFB) each year into a ‘Fire, Safe and Well’ visits to help particularly the vulnerable and those with complex conditions. The post holder will work in collaboration with local agencies to equip LFB staff to carry out Fire Safe and Well Visits in vulnerable people’s homes. This will major on Slips, Trips and Falls prevention, Winter Warmth, smoking cessation, other preventative measures and utilise Making Every Contact Count approaches. The post holder will also work with the HLP GP Leads to develop new protocols for assessment and referrals.
The post holder will work as part of the Proactive Care Programme supporting managers and staff across the LFB to develop their information, knowledge, skills and expertise to undertake Fire, Safe and Well visits. This will involve developing and delivering a London-wide training and coordination schedule for LFB staff, establishing quality and time markers, ensuring that the training schedule meets defined objectives and measuring and tracking competencies.
The post holder will require previous experience in staff training and development, excellent attention to detail and a very proactive approach to problem solving. Working across multiple organisations will require the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships, it will be essential to be an excellent communicator and be able to break down complex information in a way that is clear and easy to understand for any audience.
This post is fixed term for one year, secondments are welcome.
