High Hopes is a new Early Intervention Pediatric Therapy Center in Dubai that caters to children with special needs from the ages of 0 - 13 years old. It is a place where these very special kids can develop, progress and also have fun under the supervision of the most experienced and specialized therapists. The team consists of senior pediatric therapists under the supervision of a visiting developmental expert. They work together in creating a custom-made program for each child in order to reach their maximum potential and progress in both gross and fine motor skills as well as communication and cognitive skills.
The specialties offered include Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Feeding, along with other complementary services. We mainly cater to neurodevelopmental disorders: neuromuscular diagnoses (Cerebral Palsy, Dystonia, etc.), genetic disorders, abnormal muscle tone (increased or decreased), sensory processing difficulties, delayed developmental milestones, fine motor/visual motor deficits and self-care difficulties. The center has all the necessary equipment in addition to a pool, a sensory therapy room, a fully equipped gym as well as custom-made changing rooms.
In addition to the above, it collaborates with various international therapy institutions and have specialized visiting therapists introducing the latest techniques throughout the year with our children. It is a place that will bring the best in the world to benefit Dubai’s and the region's super special kids.
Essential Functions
Under the direction of and reporting to the Director of the Center & the Director of Therapies, the occupational therapist is responsible for conducting occupational therapy evaluations for complex children visiting the center, to assess their level of functioning and provide appropriate interventions that will meet their individual needs. Duties to include:
- Assess and treat motor, cognitive/visual processing and sensory problems in the following domains:
- Gross and fine motor skills
- Sensory integrative and Praxis skills
- Cognitive/Executive Function skills
- Bilateral motor coordination
- Visual-motor coordination
- Motor accuracy and handwriting skills
- Self-Care, independence and autonomy
- Write detailed Assessment/Evaluation reports and Progress/Discharge Reports according to the Centre’s policy.
- Create, implement and revise the individual treatment program;
- Instruct and advise parents on an occupational therapy treatment plan;
- Assess and recommend appropriate seating systems and mobility.
- Maintain records and case notes;
- Monitor and evaluate patient's progress;
- Work with clients on a one-to-one basis, and/or in groups, to deliver therapy;
- Consult and work with team members of the multidisciplinary team to incorporate appropriate strategies and goals into the child’s plan to ensure the child’s fullest development
- Maintain confidentiality about clients and their families.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: BA in Occupational Therapy. Master’s Degree is an advantage.
- Minimum Experience: More than seven years’ experience as a pediatric occupational therapist.
- Experience with Moderate to Severe Conditions
- Post graduate qualifications in Neurodevelopmental Therapy and Sensory Integration advantageous
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Visio.
