Amanda Pritchard has been appointed as the new NHS England Chief Executive. She took up the role on Sunday 1 August, replacing Lord Stevens who held the post for seven years.
Commenting on the appointment RCOT Chief Executive, Steve Ford said:
“Congratulations to Amanda on her new appointment as the head of NHS England. In a hugely challenging time for healthcare, not least for occupational therapists and other AHPs who have been on the frontline of the nation’s response to COVID-19. It is important that our hugely stretched workforce is prioritised when it comes to dealing with the waiting list backlog, burnout and exhaustion of NHS workers, and inequalities faced by both professionals and patients.
“The recovery from COVID-19 is core to all of this and is why the new Chief Executive must continue to prioritise key community support, such as rehabilitation, to ensure that patients can manage their short, medium and long-term conditions after they leave acute settings and maintain their independence.
“We look forward to continuing our close relationship with NHS England under Amanda's leadership."
