Commenting on the findings of ADASS's 2017 survey predicting further cuts of £824m from social care costs, CEO of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists, Julia Scott, said:
“The predictions from ADASS make for further depressing reading about the future of the health and care system in England. Vulnerable people are being denied essential support due to funding shortages.
"Rather than endless cuts, the government must start supporting the existing workforce to deliver new solutions. We encourage them to engage with us in order to gain a better understanding of how increased investment in occupational therapy services could be an essential part of the solution to the problems the health and social care system are facing
The Royal College of Occupational Therapists will shortly be publishing a report which will show how occupational therapy led services help to deliver higher quality, more person centred social care which is also more efficient for the tax payer in the long term.”
