Call for papers / submit content
Our call for papers for 2024 is now closed.
Our call for papers and other content submissions are now closed. Our huge thanks to all those who put forward their work.
The submissions are currently being reviewed and will be announced with the programme.
We’ll support successful applicants with preparing and presenting your session – including an online masterclass.
Share, influence and engage with your profession
If you’ve got new ideas and want to influence your peers or you’re proud of something and want to share it with the profession – submit content to present at our Annual Conference.
You don’t have to be an expert – just passionate about your field.
First time presenters are always warmly welcome at Annual Conference.
You can:
- ensure Annual Conference covers what’s important to OTs today
- get recognised for your excellent and progressive work
- take pride in a recent project and share your story
- share new ideas and influence your peers
- get published in our Book of abstracts and session proposals – shared with all attendees and available as a British Journal of Occupational Therapy (BJOT) supplement
- list presenting at our Annual Conference as a CPD activity.
There are plenty of ways to get your content across – from scientific abstracts to informal session proposals.
What can I submit
Abstracts and session proposals
You can choose to submit either:
- an abstract for scientific sessions in the categories of research, critical discourse or practice development
- a session proposal for more informal, creative and interactive opportunities to engage, collaborate and encourage learning.

What is a session proposal?
As opposed to an abstract, a session proposal opens up a more informal, creative and interactive space at Annual Conference.
A session should:
- engage attendees through meaningful content
- build a collaborative space
- encourage learning on content relevant to OT theory, practice, management, leadership, education, CPD or research.
What format can they take?
A session is up to 25 minutes long and includes interaction and delegate participation, aimed at all delegates.
A session can be pre-recorded or delivered in real-time with a live Q&A – delegates type their questions, take part in polls or use the chat facility.
Some examples
Sessions may include:
- spotlights to champion the profession
- celebrations of achievements
- a space to share and discuss a particular aspect of OT with others.
