The Challenge
Bill spent a lot of time in & out of prison. He was low in motivation & very focused on what he couldn’t do & negative to change. He was in constant pain & this was reflected in his overall physical presentation. He became dependent on the 'buddies'
The Change
Using a strengths based approach, Bill worked 121 with the OT around pain management, distraction, engaging in meaningful occupation & community participation. Bill developed further health issues during this time but continued to engage with OT
The Impact
Bills confidence grew & he applied for a job as a wing rep & got it. He developed coping skills & resilience thus, his wellbeing greatly improved. He spent more time out of his cell. Bill continues to work in this job today & doesn't require buddies
