This OT Week, we’re launching our new annual campaign:

Right Support, Right Time: Unlocking the Power of OT

Occupational therapy is a vital part of the solution to today’s health, education and social care challenges. This campaign puts occupational therapy at the heart of a shift towards prevention-focused care – helping people earlier, easing pressure across services and improving outcomes.

We’ll be showcasing the life-changing impact of occupational therapy through real stories, practical examples and campaign resources. You’ll be supported to talk confidently about how occupational therapists make a difference – especially when they’re involved early.

Together, we’ll raise public and political awareness, influence change and show how occupational therapy helps build a healthier, more sustainable future.

What's OT Week and the annual campaign?

OT Week is our week-long awareness event that happens each year to give occupational therapists across the UK the chance to shout about what they do and why it makes a difference. OT Week is also the start of our annual campaign, which this year will be about prevention and early intervention. We moved to this approach in 2024 to make a bigger impact by talking about the power of occupational therapy throughout the year.

What's the theme of OT Week 2025?

OT Week is the start of our annual campaign and this year will be about prevention and early intervention. Prevention and early intervention are key focusses set out in our Workforce Strategy. We believe that, used in the right way, occupational therapists have the power to help reduce the number of people who reach crisis point, and help them get home sooner when they do.

How is this relevant to acute settings?

There have been studies that show, for example, that having occupational therapists in emergency departments as part of the triage team can help people coming to A&E receive the treatment they need sooner and, in some cases, they won’t need to be admitted. This reduces pressures on other areas of the emergency services. Occupational therapists on hospital wards, when they’re able to do what they’re trained for, can help prevent people from returning to hospital by ensuring they have the right support at home, again reducing pressure on other areas of the NHS and social care.

All campaign resources are digital and can be downloaded from this page. We’ve moved OT Week online to support our commitment to sustainability and to focus on making a bigger impact. Going digital means we can reach more people, measure our success more effectively and reduce waste. That’s why we’re not producing printed materials or merchandise.
