Workforce Survey 2024
We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our Workforce Survey 2024.
By completing our Workforce Survey, you'll help us gather vital data that will make sure we can all advocate for the change that is needed.
Who can complete this survey?
Our survey is open to all Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered occupational therapists in any role.
It’s also open to:
- OT learners (students and apprentices)
- OT assistants and support workers
- retired OTs who are still HCPC registered and actively engaged with our profession.
We want to hear from you no matter your level or and area of practice to make sure we get a diverse and representative picture of what’s happening. If you're actively engaged with our profession we need to engage with you.
We strongly encourage those from under-represented groups within our OT community to complete the survey. A wealth of views, backgrounds and approaches can only improve the evidence being generated.

Completing our Workforce Survey is a reflective practice that counts towards your CPD!

A cornerstone of our Workforce Strategy – check we’re delivering what you need
This is our first Workforce Survey since the release of our Workforce Strategy.
Although you may have come across our Workforce Surveys before, they now serve as the cornerstone of our Workforce Strategy. We will be repeating it every two to three years to track, monitor and measure progress towards the vision we have set out.
The survey will give us crucial insights which will inform our nation-specific action plans and keep our profession on track across the UK.
The data from this survey will give us and you the power to:
Shape the future of occupational therapy
By taking part in the survey, you’ll give us valuable insights that help shape policies and strategies for the future of the profession. Your input ensures that the needs and challenges of occupational therapists like you are accurately represented.
Advocate for better resources
The data collected from the survey can highlight areas where more resources and support are needed. This can lead to us advocating harder and with a more targeted approach for improved funding, training opportunities and working conditions for our profession.
Enhance professional development
Completing the survey helps identify gaps in current education and training programs. We can use this information to develop more effective professional development initiatives, ensuring that occupational therapists have access to the best possible learning opportunities.
Strengthen workforce planning
Accurate workforce data is crucial for effective planning and management. We’re all working towards our vision for an improved workforce that is more community based. By providing your input, you help create a clearer picture of the current workforce, which can inform recruitment, retention and our ongoing Workforce Strategy.
Support evidence based practice
The survey results can contribute to a stronger evidence base for our profession. This can enhance the credibility and impact of OT, support the development of best practices and improve patient outcomes.
