Innovation that drives improvement is a key focus for a new collection of nine case studies. We interviewed occupational therapists who are leading the way to improve and transform services. We asked them about their journeys, how they demonstrate impact, and their top tips for growing innovation.
We found common themes across our innovators such as the importance of expanding your networks and putting the service user voice at the heart of change. Being able to use critical reflection skills during pilot projects and building evidence was also key.
Finding what you love and using that passion to build motivation means these innovators have seized the right moment for push their ideas. The case studies are from across the UK and cover both health and local authority services. They include working with refugees, domestic abuse and offering mental health services in GP surgeries.
There are also case studies about children with complex needs and mothers' perinatal needs. The drive for service and digital inclusion for people with learning disabilities and autistic people has also been a strong theme.
We hope the case studies inspire you to share your own improvement journeys with us on the RCOT Innovation Hub.
These resources are part of a wider RCOT and Health Education England (HEE) collaboration to create an Allied Health Professionals (AHP) Workforce Reform to shape the future of the AHP personnel. The learning and insight will be for all four nations.
