UNISON is asking its members to pledge to take industrial action over the latest NHS pay award for staff in England.
Their ‘Pledge Yes for the NHS’ campaign asks members to promise to vote for industrial action in their ballot due to take place in late October 2022. The campaign and subsequent ballot applies to all NHS staff working in England including occupational therapists.
Commenting on the pledge, Karin Bishop, RCOT Director of Movement Building and Membership, said:
"Occupational therapists make an immense contribution to health and social care in the UK. Day in, day out they help people achieve the breakthroughs they need to elevate their everyday life. We support all our members to get the pay they deserve and we will be working with UNISON as industrial action is considered. We call on the government to give all occupational therapists a fair wage now."
UNISON will be contacting its members in the NHS in England over next few weeks. The latest information on the NHS pay awards and the action UNISON is taking across the rest of the UK is on the UNISON website and you can also contact them directly with any questions.
BAOT/RCOT members are members of UNISON, except for those who are wholly self-employed, employed overseas or retired.
