About this event

Last year, almost 1,000 members brought their collective minds together to decide what the OT community should be focusing their data and case study collection efforts on so that the profession can demonstrate its impact.

This session is for leaders in occupational therapy systems and services and offers practical conversations about how to generate, select and use outcome data effectively.

You’ll understand how to influence data collection within your team and use this data to evidence the value and impact of occupational therapy across the health and social care system to different stakeholders – including decision and policy makers.

What do we mean by impact?
By focusing our decisions on which data and practice examples we collect as a profession, we can demonstrate the impact of occupational therapy on:

  • population health and care outcome
  • reducing cost of care
  • enhancing the experience of people using our services
  • improving the experience of the workforce and the multiprofessional teams we work in.

Aims
From this session you’ll:

  • Understand what useful data looks like
  • understand how to help your team or systems collect useful data
  • use that data to evidence value and impact of occupational therapy across the health and social care systems
  • tailor the evidence for different stakeholders – including decision and policy makers.
Questions you should have an answer to by the end:
  • How can we translate our profession-specific outcomes into economic and systems-level impact statements?
  • What national reporting exists that can be deployed for demonstrating need for occupational therapy services, and understanding where these are of most value?
  • How can we collaborate with other services to build the evidence and elevate OT’s distinctive contribution to shared goals?
