The mission of the Department of Education and Youth (DEY) is to ensure that all children and young people have access to a positive learning experience and to facilitate them, through learning, to realise their full potential and contribute to Ireland’s social, economic and cultural development.

The Therapy and Inclusion Unit is part of the DEY’s Special Education Section and is responsible for ensuring that children with special education or additional needs, whether attending mainstream classes, special classes or special schools, have access to speech and language therapy and occupational therapy services, necessary to ensure these children achieve the best possible educational outcomes.

The Department now require professionals to fill the following vacancies in their Therapy and Inclusion Unit:

  • Assistant Principal Officer Occupational Therapy Specialist
  • Assistant Principal Officer Speech and Language Therapy Specialist

These new senior level full time, permanent positions, offer an exciting opportunity for suitably qualified and experienced individuals with a strong commitment to serving the public interest. 

Reporting to the Principal Officer with responsibility for Therapy and Inclusion, their work will focus initially on the development of speech and language therapy and occupational therapy services in the ETS, including workforce development, retention, ensuring the service is delivered in line with best practice and is aligned and coordinated with existing children’s services.
