Managing Editor, BJOT
Join RCOT as a Managing Editor
Are you an experienced STM publishing professional who can elevate the impact, quality and reach of a leading academic journal? Join us at the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) as Managing Editor of the British Journal of Occupational Therapy (BJOT), our flagship, peer-reviewed publication that showcases cutting-edge research, shaping the future of the profession and advances occupational therapy practice in the UK and internationally.
As Managing Editor, you will play a critical role in strengthening its strategic direction, editorial quality, and global profile. You will work closely with the Editor-in-Chief to lead the editorial and operational management of BJOT, driving a high quality, ethical and timely publishing experience while strengthening the journal’s content strategy, academic impact and research integrity. Working closely with the Editor-in-Chief, Editorial Board, publisher and RCOT colleagues, you’ll oversee rigorous peer-review, provide expert editorial guidance from submission to production, and promote the journal’s visibility.
You’ll bring strong STM journal publishing experience, deep knowledge of the ScholarOne system and journal workflow, and confidence in managing contracts and editorial workflows. With excellent editorial judgement, copyediting and proofreading skills, plus a deep understanding of Online Publishing and Open Access, you’ll be able to interpret data and market trends and manage a wide range of stakeholders. You’ll combine outstanding communication skills and attention to detail with a collaborative, values-led approach and a passion for improving research quality.
Experience in occupational therapy or a related field is helpful but not essential.
