Exploring the impact of executive function on mental capacity and decision making

This two day course will explore the impact of executive function on mental capacity and decision making, it will support Occupational therapists to enhance and develop their knowledge and skills in assessing mental capacity through function in the acute hospital and community settings.

The course will cover the principles of mental capacity act, support delegates to recognise the difference between decisional and executive function when assessing mental capacity, discuss assessment of mental capacity through functional activity, develop confidence in recording mental capacity assessments and explore positive risk management and person choice including the role of OT assessment to support Court of Protection decisions.

The course includes online presentation, discussion, case studies, video and optional role play.

Presented by Samantha Risley, Lead Safeguarding RGN and Samantha Evans, Occupational Therapist.

Participants can join the course remotely from their home / office.
