About this event

Boost your practice using occupational formulation and measurable goals!

Find out how you can make your practice more collaborative and occupation-focused. Join us for this exciting new course taking place on Friday 20 February, 2026 from 9.30am - 12.00pm with a follow up session on Friday 20 March, 2026 from 9.30 - 10.30am.

Facilitated by Dr. Rob Brooks, Lisa Jamieson and Lorrae Mynard.

What is occupational formulation?

Occupational formulation is a step in the occupational therapy process that helps connect what you learn during assessment with how you plan and deliver therapy. It's a written summary that brings together key insights about the needs, strengths and challenges of the people accessing your services/you support. It also guides meaningful goal setting and treatment plans. This approach encourages collaboration with the individual and supports clear communication across the team. It offers a unique occupational perspective that helps everyone stay aligned and focused on what matters most to the people you support.

Learning outcomes

You will build your knowledge to:

  • Understand occupational formulation, its foundations and why it is important for practice.
  • Identify and apply the components of a three-part occupational formulation.
  • Recognise how to create measurable goals using a goal setting formula.
  • Apply occupational formulation and measurable goals to your practice setting.
Who should attend?

This course is aimed at all occupational therapists - novice to experienced - including students. You will need to attend the first part of this course to be able to join the follow-up session.
