Research Café - April session
Open for all to attend
Research Café: Meaningfully Involving People in Research
About the online event
This research café session explores how occupational therapists and researchers can meaningfully involve people with lived experience in research. The session aligns with the RCOT Research and Innovation Strategy 2025–2028, which aims to support the occupational therapy workforce to develop, integrate and apply research, innovation and quality improvement into practice.
People who access services, their families, carers and the wider public play a crucial role in shaping relevant, impactful research. Through real-world examples, the speakers will reflect on their experiences of involving people in research in meaningful and inclusive ways, highlighting the importance of co-production, representation from diverse communities, and engaging people whose voices are often under-represented.
The discussion will also consider how lived experience can help shape new ideas for assessments, interventions and technologies, ultimately improving health and wellbeing outcomes.
Who is it for?
This session is open to anyone with an interest in research or evidence-informed practice, including occupational therapists, students, researchers and those involved in quality improvement or innovation. No prior research experience is required.
