Job description

Clinical Lead for Acute Occupational Therapy (Acute & Palliative)

Are you ready to lead, innovate, and make a measurable impact on patient care? This is your opportunity to take on a pivotal leadership role within our Acute Occupational Therapy service – shaping the way we support patients across Acute, A&E, and Ambulatory Care, and ensuring we deliver life-changing outcomes every single day.

As Clinical Lead, you’ll combine your advanced clinical expertise with strategic leadership, managing a highly skilled team while also carrying your own complex caseload. You’ll influence service delivery, lead on innovation and research, and directly contribute to reducing hospital stays, preventing readmissions, and improving patient independence and quality of life.

What we can offer you:

  • Professional autonomy & influence – You’ll have the scope to shape policy, lead clinical audits, and embed best practice across the service.
  • Specialist, varied caseload – Work at the highest level of your profession, from complex acute interventions to palliative care, in both hospital and community settings.
  • Leadership development – Full support to grow your leadership skills, from managing and mentoring junior staff to contributing at strategic and operational levels.
  • Innovation & research – Lead projects using a QI approach, that push the boundaries of practice, present findings nationally, and drive service improvement.
  • Collaborative environment – Be part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary network that values your expertise and shares your passion for patient-centred care.
  • Commitment to your growth – Access to CPD, specialist training, and Trust-wide learning opportunities to keep you at the forefront of your field.
  • Transport and travel benefits – Access to salary sacrifice schemes with regards to car leasing, season tickets and cycle to work.

At Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, we live by our values: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. This means we listen, we are kind, we treat people as individuals, and we continually improve the care we provide. We will support you to thrive – professionally and personally – in a role where your decisions matter and your leadership is valued.

If you are an experienced Occupational Therapist ready to take the next step in shaping exceptional acute care, we want to hear from you.

To apply, please send your CV and personal statement to: iownt.community-ahp-workforce-recruitment@nhs.net for the attention of Stuart Browne, Service Lead for Acute Therapies.
