You must give support and in-service training to the locally trained Occupational Therapist Assistant. Creating and delivering hands-on training programmes for care staff and community carers on the island, you will build the professional capacity and confidence of clinical staff.
Participating in the assessment of the registered disabled to determine their capabilities, you will review and provide inputs to the island’s draft disability policy and implementation guidelines. You must handle individual case management plans for clients requiring and/or receiving occupational therapy and create programmes for residential care homes.
A qualified and registered Occupational Therapist, preferably with a Masters in Occupational Therapy, you have managed and developed community-based rehabilitation services. Your experience covers mental health therapies and teaching/training Occupational Therapy staff and carers. Confident to perform as an autonomous practitioner, you have excellent interpersonal skills.
In addition, you must demonstrate our core values of fairness, integrity and teamwork and use your diverse expertise and experiences to ensure your time on the Island has the broadest benefit to St Helena. As an officer funded through the Technical Co-Operation Programme you will be expected to share your knowledge and skills beyond the workplace contributing to workforce, community and capacity development in St Helena.
