We have several opportunities within Ruskin Mill Trust for Occupational Therapists based within our Garden Schools or Colleges. Working therapeutically with specific or small groups of students based on assessments of the student’s support and developmental needs.
Our occupational therapy service is embedded within Ruskin Mill’s unique method of Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) and Rudolf Steiner’s approach to human development as interventions to meet the students’ sensory and self-regulation needs as identified in the EHC plan.
Through effective management of your caseload, you will ensure that ECHP targets are met alongside the students’ needs. In doing so you will nurture solid working relationships with staff and students and be given the opportunity to facilitate meaningful change with hands on intervention and practice.
You will be working with children, young people and vulnerable adults with autistic spectrum disorders, learning disabilities and difficulties associated with developmental delay and, in collaboration with the other therapists, communicating findings to a diverse range of Ruskin Mill Trust staff and external bodies. This will include record keeping, data collection and analysis and will include the delivery of staff training. To validate and document student progress by being immersed in PSTE and the Steiner Curriculum utilising their expertise in sensory profiles and sensory integration.
To be considered for Occupational Therapist positions you will have:
- BSc (Hons) or equivalent Occupational Therapy qualification.
- HCPC Registration.
- Sensory Integration level 2/3 is highly desirable
- Experience of working with autism, learners with learning difficulties and/ or learning disabilities and social-emotional behaviour.
In this role you will advise and train staff on embedding OT into Ruskin Mill’s unique method of Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) and the Steiner educational insights as interventions to meet the students’ sensory and self-regulation needs as identified in the EHC plan. Training and mentoring will be provided as will supervision.
Working at Ruskin Mill Trust is incredibly rewarding; we offer competitive salaries and holiday allowances, an auto-enrolment pension scheme with a salary sacrifice option, a health cash plan and employee assistance programme via Medicash.
In addition, staff receive valuable training opportunities including an in-depth interactive induction to enable our new team members to experience our Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) curriculum and opportunities for further training and academic research including our own MSc in Practical Skills Therapeutic Education.
