Sue Parkinson to lead the 2026 Casson lecture
Sue Parkinson has been nominated and chosen to give the 2026 Elizabeth Casson Memorial Lecture. Since graduating as an occupational therapist in 1987, she has become a leading light in championing occupational therapy, specifically in mental health settings.
Working in the NHS advising and supporting occupational therapists through improving outcomes, she went on to become a well-known trainer and speaker, delivering key-note speeches and Q&A sessions for occupational therapy staff worldwide.
Sue is known in the occupational therapy world for her contributions to the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) – most notably the assessment, the Model of Human Occupation Screening Tool (MOHOST), which has been translated into 18 languages and the popular textbook – A Guide to the Formulation of Plans and Goals in Occupational Therapy.
Nominating Sue, Laura Di Bona outlined the impact that she had made in the advancement of occupation-centred practice by 'collaborating with colleagues to create a range of easy-to-use resources which inspire so many of us to maintain an occupational focus, embrace our occupational language and evidence the value of doing so.’

'Wow! I'm quite simply overwhelmed by the kindness of those who have supported me - a MOHO geek - to become an Elizabeth Casson Memorial lecturer. Thank you!'
I'd also like to thank Laura Di Bona, who nominated me. Her support over the years has meant a lot to me. We worked alongside each other when I was writing the MOHOST and I could always trust her clinical judgement. Her faith in me means a lot.
Finally, Id like to offer my thanks to all the occupational therapists who have kept me going over the years with their enthusiastic endorsements of my written work and my workshops.'
