We’ve got you covered – changes being made to your insurance cover with RCOT

By: RCOT 31 March, 2025 News 3 minute read

Our professional members living in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or Ireland get Medical, Healthcare and Treatment Indemnity, Professional Indemnity and Public and Products’ Liability cover of up to £10 million.

Though we hope you never need it, you can rest easy knowing you’re covered – all day, every day – no matter the scope of your professional OT practice.

As of Tuesday 1 April 2025, we’re switching to a new insurance provider.

What’s changing?

Our new insurance provider will be Altea.

Their cover will come into effect from Tuesday 1 April 2025. With this comes some changes.

Key changes

  • The new policy covers claims made against a member living in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or Ireland no matter where the claimant lives (except for the USA and Canada).
  • The policy now extends liability coverage to a principal (usually a client) if they are sued because of another person's alleged actions.
  • It’s now clearer that members who are self-employed or take on a small degree of private work, are covered under The Disciplinary Hearing Extension terms.
  • A 90-day extension has been added for any temporary visit outside the country for members to work overseas or for student members to undertake a practice placement as part of their studies (except USA or Canada).

We look forward to working with our new insurance partner.
