Help shape what comes next for AHPs

A new national framework for Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) 2027 to 2032 is being developed, setting the long-term vision for how AHPs contribute to health and care.

This is a real opportunity to influence the direction of travel and to ensure occupational therapy perspectives are clearly reflected.

Why this matters

The next few years will bring continued change across the system with growing demand workforce pressures and a stronger focus on prevention equity and personalised care. This framework will guide how AHPs respond including how services are designed delivered and valued.

Your insight is important to getting this right and needs to be part of this conversation.

What the framework is focusing on

The survey is organised around six themes that reflect the key challenges and opportunities for AHPs:

  1. providing safe high quality and accessible services
  1. keeping people healthy through prevention earlier intervention and reducing inequalities
  1. people and workforce including skills leadership and retention
  1. working differently across pathways teams and settings
  1. research improvement and innovation in everyday practice
  1. data digital and technology including how impact is captured and demonstrated

How you can get involved

Share your individual perspective

Complete the national survey to highlight what matters most to you and your practice.

Use the workshop in a box with your team

You can submit feedback as a group as well as individually. Bring colleagues together for a structured discussion using the workshop in a box resource, this will help ensure different perspectives are captured.

A collective voice

We will also be feeding in as RCOT, drawing on what we hear from members to influence the framework at a national level.

Use this as an opportunity to reflect on what is working well and where change would make the biggest difference for the people you support.

It is important that occupational therapy is visible in this work so take a few minutes to share your perspective or bring your team together to contribute. Your input strengthens how the profession is represented and helps shape how AHPs including occupational therapists deliver impact in the years ahead.
