Launching Building Health into Homes campaign in Northern Ireland
What’s happening?
We were delighted to launch Building Health into Homes in Northern Ireland, with Lauren Walker introducing RCOT’s new resources and highlighting the vital links between housing, health and wellbeing.
The event brought together colleagues from across health, social care and housing to explore how good housing can support people to live independently, stay well and remain connected to their communities.
Why this matters to you
Occupational therapists see every day how suitable housing can prevent ill health, reduce hospital admissions, support timely discharge and enable people to live safely and independently. As demand on health and social care services continues to grow, ensuring that health is considered in housing policy and design has never been more important.
What we’re doing
Through the Building Health into Homes resources, we are raising awareness of the role housing plays in health outcomes and promoting the contribution occupational therapists make in supporting independent living.
We will continue to engage with partners across housing, health and government to ensure occupational therapy expertise is reflected in future discussions and policy development.
