OTnews – a new schedule, same great content

04 September, 2025 News

We’re updating the OTnews publishing schedule as part of our commitment to sustainability and delivering value.

OTnews is a space for connection, inspiration and professional pride. We’re proud of the role it plays in RCOT membership. As part of our commitment to sustainability and delivering value across all member benefits, we’re updating its publishing schedule – moving to six issues a year from October. This also helps us make best use of our resources.

This update was agreed by the RCOT Board of Trustees, following careful consideration of how we can best support you and the wider profession. It reflects our commitment to sustainability and responsible resource use, helping us protect the magazine’s long-term value. Each issue will be expanded to include more features, stories and insights – giving you even more value in every edition.

We know the magazine matters deeply to many of you and that won’t change. Each expanded issue will continue to feature inspiring stories, expert insights and member voices. Even in months without a print edition, you’ll still hear from us – through the OTnews email that includes a fresh feature and highlights powerful stories from the archive, keeping you informed and engaged all year round.

You’ll continue to have opportunities to contribute to the magazine, and RCOT Communities offers a new space to share stories, case studies and continue conversations. BJOT is another platform for sharing research and evidence-based practice.

You choose how you receive OTnews. Every time a new issue is published, you’ll get an email straight to your inbox with a link to the much-improved digital edition. More members are choosing this format – it’s quick to access and better for the environment. If you prefer print, it now comes in a recyclable paper wrap. You can update your preferences in your online account to choose the format that works best for you.

Your RCOT membership gives you access to a wide range of benefits – from professional development and events to networks, guidance and advocacy. OTnews remains a key part of that offer, helping us share what matters and stay connected with you.

We know this feels different

For many members, the monthly magazine has been a familiar and valued part of RCOT membership. We understand that updates to long-standing benefits can prompt questions, and we want to acknowledge that openly.

This decision supports our commitment to sustainability and responsible resource use, while allowing us to continue investing in the relevance and richness of the magazine.

We’re here to listen. You can share your thoughts through SLT and Board drop-ins, or by email. Your feedback helps us stay connected to what matters most to our members.

If you’d like to discuss this, there are opportunities to meet up with some of our Senior Leadership Team and Board members:
