Response to the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza
Chief Executive Steve Ford discusses conflict in Israel and Gaza
In response to the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza, Steve Ford, Chief Executive of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists, said:
‘Like many of our members I am deeply concerned at the continuing devastating situation in Israel and Gaza, where thousands of innocent people have lost their lives. Our thoughts are with all those affected by the conflict, including our colleagues and members.
‘Hamas' assault on Israel was a horrific act of terrorism. And the resulting Israeli military operations in Gaza have led to a huge humanitarian emergency.
'We condemn antisemitism and islamophobia and stand with all of our members and colleagues who are being targeted as a result of this conflict.
‘We would also like to express solidarity with our occupational therapy colleagues in Israel and Gaza, who, at the moment, are trying to get from one day to the next, but in future will be essential in helping people re-establish a sense of normality and return to daily life.’
