The Health and Care Professions Council

The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) protects the public by keeping a register of health professionals who meet HCPC standards in the following areas:

• Training
• Professional skills
• Behaviour
• Health

Being on the Health Professions register means that you can use the protected title of "occupational therapist". It is a criminal offence to use the title "occupational therapist" if you are not registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), formerly the Health Professions Council (HPC), is the regulatory body for occupational therapists and 14 other allied health professions. A selection of occupational therapists are audited by the HCPC every two years, and the College provides members with advice about the HCPC registration and audit processes.
