The second edition of our guideline Occupational therapy in neonatal services and early intervention is out now to inform your practice.
This guideline supports occupational therapists in providing evidence-based practice in neonatal services, developed using a NICE accredited process. You’ll find recommendations to inform your practice in neonatal services. It can also help you make a case for occupational therapy within neonatal services.
This guideline will be helpful if you:
- are an OT who works in neonatal services and early intervention
- are a member of the Specialist Section – Children, Young People and Families
- work in paediatric services
- work as OT staff and deliver services to parents and infants in a range of settings including neonatal units, maternity units, transitional care units, paediatric intensive care units and children’s wards
- are writing a business case to create OT posts in neonatal services.
Thank you to those who reviewed and updated this guideline, including our review group who are members with expertise in neonatal care and our public contributor with lived experience. Their work was key to the process and the rigour of the guideline, and the review could not have been completed without them.
