Come together to ‘learn, discuss, debate and grow’, delegates are urged as our 45th Annual Conference gets off to a great start.
Over 1,000 people from the global occupational therapy community are expected to join our 45th Annual Conference over the next two days, to ‘learn, discuss, debate and grow’.
Chief Executive Steve Ford kicked everything off with a warm welcome to all. The programme’s been shaped around four ‘top priority’ themes – chosen by our members – that reflect the times, issues and challenges we face, he said.
‘Connecting health and social care’ will cover topics that look at how we overcome the barriers in the way that health and social care are connected so that we can ensure positive outcomes for people.
‘Powering breakthroughs’ is a theme that will look at demonstrating the impact of occupational therapy and how it contributes to achieving health equity.
While ‘Embracing the digital world’ will be looking at aspects of digital innovation, digital driven improvements and digital literacy – a key area for the future of health and social care.
Finally, the fourth theme is around ‘Innovating our profession’; how do we future proof our profession by using occupational therapy skills to innovate across the wider health and social care sectors?
‘How can occupational therapists be deployed in innovative ways for wider and greater impact?’ Steve asked.
This year’s Annual Conference has a wealth of stimulating content. With 109 abstracts, presentations, posters, skills exchange sessions, eight RCOT Insight sessions, two RCOT invitation session, six Plenary sessions, 15 chat rooms and six wellbeing sessions, and 11 sponsors, Steve urged delegates to build their own interactive schedules, be proactive and network and get conference trending on Twitter by using #RCOT2022.
