Our policy and public affairs work continues to champion occupational therapy across the UK. This month has seen important milestones in Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland – all nations celebrated OT Week.

Paul’s reflection

What a month! It’s incredibly hard to condense everything that’s been going on into this update.

Thank you to everyone who took part in OT Week. It was great to see events happening across Wales.

Scotland

Katie’s reflection:

This month we celebrated OT Week with the launch of our annual campaign, Right Time, Right Support. Throughout the year, we’ll be highlighting the transformative role occupational therapy plays in creating a truly preventative health and care system.

We continue to make the case that enabling people to stay well, independent and connected within their communities is not a “nice to have” – it's essential to the long-term sustainability of health and social care.

Through real stories, evidence and member insights, the campaign will demonstrate how occupational therapists support people at the right time, with the right support, to live the lives they choose.

Northern Ireland

Cliona McSherry is our Policy and Public Affairs Lead – Northern Ireland.

Cliona’s reflection:

November was an incredible month for us in Northern Ireland as we came together to celebrate OT Week – and what a week it was! Engagement across the profession was fantastic and we were delighted by the support from political leaders, our Chief AHP Officer and many partners.

England

Joe Brunwin is our UK Policy and Public Affairs Manager.

Joe's reflection

This month saw OT week and the launch of our annual campaign, Right Time, Right Support. Over the next year we’ll be highlighting how occupational therapy helps create a preventative health and care system. Our message remains clear – helping people stay well, independent and connected in their communities is essential for the future of health and social care.
