Do you want to get more out of your membership this year? We’ve got some ideas for you…
Join us at events
We’ll have hundreds of virtual and in person events for you this year – giving you the chance to learn and network. Many of them are free as part of your membership, including our placement and research cafés. Take a regular look at our events calendar and get booking!
Our Annual Conference is on 14–15 June 2023 and the Elizabeth Casson Memorial Lecture on 27 April 2023. We’ll send you invitations to these events later this month. If you haven’t taken part in either event before, please consider them this year. They’re both very popular!
Volunteer
Ever considered volunteering with us? We have over 400 volunteers and are always keen to welcome more. Look out for email invitations to apply to join Boards, Committees, Groups and even Council! You’ll find current opportunities on our website.
Get involved with your local region
Don’t forget that you’re also a member of your local RCOT region. Take advantage of opportunities to build strong networks, further your own professional development and the growth of the profession.
Did you know we also have ten Specialist Sections? We bring together OTs working in the same area of practice, offering guidance and support on the topics that matter to you. There’s a small extra fee to cover membership of Specialist Sections.
Ask us for professional advice
Our dedicated Professional Practice Enquiries Service is here to help you when you need it. Last year, we supported you with over 2,500 enquiries, providing advice on scope of practice, professional indemnity insurance, fitness to practice, returning to practice, Long Covid and more. If you’re experiencing pressures at work or personally, contact professional.enquiries@rcot.co.uk or call 020 3141 4630.
Read OTnews
OTnews is exclusive to members and brings you a lively mix of news and policy, the latest professional developments, features and opinions, making sure you’re kept up to date with the latest developments in occupational therapy. Get in touch with our editor, Tracey Samuels if you’d like to be featured in the magazine to celebrate an achievement or share your experiences.
If you’d like to opt out of the paper version and read the magazine on our website, please email editorial@rcot.co.uk.
Use your member logo
As a member, you can use the member of RCOT logo on your email signature. Download the member logo and if you’re an independent OT, you’ll also find advice on how else you can use your member logo while promoting your services.
Explore our digital library
Did you know your membership gives you access to occupational therapy literature and resources including e-books, online journals and databases? Our digital library means you can make use of this member benefit from wherever you are. Contact our Library team if you need any help while searching – library@rcot.co.uk
Check out our jobs board
Whether you’re looking for a new job or recruiting, our jobs board is the best place to start. It’s a paid-for advertising service, and we offer discounted advertising for our members.
Follow us on social media
Whichever social media channel you prefer to use, make sure you’re following us! It’s a convenient way to hear the latest news and find out about new resources. Remember to tag us in your photos on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or LinkedIn so we can share and celebrate the work you do every day. Help us show people everywhere the life-changing power of occupational therapy.
We hope this list has inspired you to plug into your membership and make use of some more benefits. This is just a flavour of what you get for your membership – there is so much more from research and CPD to representation and support from UNISON. Browse our website regularly to see what else we have for you. If you haven’t set up an account on our website, make that a priority for 2023 – to access information easily and make sure your contact details are up-to-date so you don’t miss out on anything.
We look forward to supporting you to have a brilliant professional year ahead.
