Macmillan Cancer Support has identified the need to better understand who in the health and social care workforce supports people living with cancer. This includes the vital contribution of the Allied Health Professional (AHP) workforce.
The Royal College of Occupational Therapists will be working together with Macmillan Cancer Support and Quality Health to distribute an online survey to all members.
The aim of this survey is to collect workforce data about AHPs who are involved in assessing, treating, supporting and managing adults living with cancer, whether in cancer specialist or non-cancer specialist roles.
Please follow the link to the survey.
The survey will be available to complete until Monday 11th December and we want to hear from everyone, whether you spend a small or considerable amount of time with people affected by cancer.
The last workforce data collected for the specialist AHP workforce working in cancer care was undertaken in 2012 by the National Cancer Action Team in England only. There has been no information collected about the AHP workforce at a national level since this time.
The information gathered from the recent mapping of the specialist AHP workforce in cancer and palliative care in Northern Ireland will be complemented by the information gathered in this survey.
A report of the AHP workforce survey results will be published in early 2018 which will be shared with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists on completion.
We urge you to complete the survey and take part in this valuable work that will help inform and influence workforce planning and highlight education and development needs that could be incorporated into national, regional and local workforce plans.
