NHS Confederation has written to Nadhim Zahawi, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, stating that the UK is facing a ‘public health emergency’ unless the government takes further action to limit energy price rises.
They have warned that the current energy crisis will lead to more illness and have a major impact on people’s mental health and wellbeing.
Responding to the letter, RCOT Chief Executive, Steve Ford, said:
“We agree with the NHS Confederation that the cost of living crisis could lead to a vicious cycle of demand in health and social care. The crisis is already affecting many occupational therapists and the people they help. The UK Government needs to take urgent action now.”
