Policy and influencing

Occupational therapists help people of all ages do everyday tasks

We want everyone who needs occupational therapy to get it, where and when they need it

We think that the principles underpinning good occupational therapy should be reflected in health, housing, social care, work and appropriate education and research policies and practice.

We work with stakeholders including our members, the policy community, local leaders and the governments in all four nations, across health and social care, in housing and in education to help to increase access to occupational therapy, including helping to design the occupational therapy workforce of the future.

We develop evidence, analyse data, work with our members to ensure that their experience is reflected in our insight, provide briefings, respond to consultations and campaign for change, often with partner organisations. We support members to be changemakers, giving people the skills and knowledge they need to influence decision makers and raise the profile of OT.
