Some of our previous winners have used their funding to support innovation, practice development, international placements, conference attendance, research activities and more.

New Award

This year we’re introducing a new award, the RCOT Equity, Diversity and Belonging (EDB) Award: Racially Minoritised Groups. This award provides funding to support an innovative or developmental project aimed at removing barriers to accessing occupational therapy services for an identified group of people or community.

New for 2023 – RCOT Equity, Diversity and Belonging (EDB) Award: Racially Minoritised Groups – up to £1,250

This new award provides funding to support an innovative or developmental project aimed at removing barriers to accessing occupational therapy services for an identified group of people or community. The project needs to focus on seldom heard racially minoritised groups that have difficulty in accessing our services.

AMPS-ESI UK & Ireland Award – £1,000

This award provides support towards a practice development/evaluation project or research activity in a topic relevant to occupational therapy which also demonstrates the use of the AMPS, School AMPS, ESI or OTIPM. Open to professional and student members.

Constance Owens Liverpool Award for Service Development – £1,000 each (two awards)

This award provides support to an individual professional member participating in a service development activity or project likely to have an impact on outcomes for service users/carers, occupational therapy service effectiveness, and professional practice.

Innovation Award – £2,000

This award provides support for an innovative or developmental project or activity likely to have an impact on service users and the profession. Open to all members.

Institute of Social Psychiatry Award – £2,000

This award provides support for an individual occupational therapist towards a research or developmental project/activity in a topic relevant to occupational therapy and mental health that demonstrates relevance to social psychiatry. The award can be used to support formal post graduate research activities and education.

The Barbara Tyldesley Student Award – £500 each (two awards)

This award provides support for a UK pre-registration student or learner member’s participation in a role emerging or research placement, an approved practice placement overseas or involvement in a global health project.

RCOT Student Award for Entrepreneurship and Leadership – £500

This award provides support towards a pre-registration student or learner entrepreneurial or leadership activity with a focus on the relevance of the activity to the development of occupational therapy and benefit to people who access occupational therapy services/carers.

Pearson Award – £750

This award provides support for an individual occupational therapist or student/learner member towards an activity that forms part of their education, research or continuing professional development.

The Constance Owens Early Researcher Award – £5,000

This award enables an individual professional member to begin to participate in research, through pilot or preliminary research activity relevant to occupational therapy in statutory and non-statutory sectors and the activity/project must be linked to practice.

International Activity Award – £750 each (two awards)

This award provides support towards an individual member’s active participation in an overseas activity. This may include virtual/online participation.

Tunstall Award for Technology Innovation in Occupational Therapy – £1,500

This award supports the innovative use of existing digital technology to support individuals, communities or occupational therapy service delivery in a real-world setting.
