Innovation

The innovation and Improvement hub is an open network for curious minds. Whether you have a new idea, a fresh perspective on the provision of occupational therapy or you've developed your own solution, we're here to support you

Your ideas influence and make an impact

Innovation in occupational therapy practice includes invention – creating something new – or adoption – bringing in something that’s worked well elsewhere. Either way, innovation is about making something better than it was before. That could include improving quality, efficiency, effectiveness or overall value. It can be a small change or a large transformation.

We want to hear your improvement ideas so that we can stay connected to practice and better influence national policy and innovation. We also offer innovation and improvement seed funding alongside coaching for members seeking support to develop their ideas. To access support or share your project outcomes with us – submit an improvement journey.

Who are the innovators and changemakers

Anyone who identifies, develops and implements creative solutions to common challenges or opportunities encountered in daily practice is a changemaker.

Changes can be big or small and include things like:

  • improving or streamlining how occupational therapy processes like triage, assessment or discharge are carried out
  • the introduction of new products or assistive technologies
  • remodelling or realigning services
  • adapting existing technologies for novel purposes.
