Placement cafés
At the Placement cafés, we’re bringing together people who support placements for pre-registration learners. It's an opportunity to network and discuss ways of creating quality, sustainable opportunities. The cafés will be held on Teams on a monthly basis, with a new theme each month.
AHP principles
Working together to develop our future workforce
The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) have worked together to develop this set of seven principles of practice-based learning to support the development of quality, sustainable placement opportunities for pre-registration learners.
Following their successful launch, they have since been adopted by eight other UK AHP professional bodies and by the German Occupational Therapy Association, or Deutscher Verband Ergotherapie.
The Principles are designed to be used by everyone involved in practice-based learning: learners and apprentices, universities, practice educators, service leads, business owners and more.
- Practice-based learning opportunities are co-produced
- Practice-based learning takes place across all areas, pillars and levels of practice
- Practice-based learning environments must be inclusive and welcoming to all
- Practice-based learning uses flexible, appropriate and supportive models of supervision and delivery
- Practice-based learning is designed with a whole team approach
- All those involved in practice education are valued, respected and recognised within their roles
- Practice-based learning is evaluated; capturing data to drive improvement and demonstrate impact

Reflections from our first education summit in 2022
We held our first education summit in 2022, focusing on the pre-registration education and early careers of our future workforce in a changing world. It was a great opportunity for over 50 educators, learners and practitioners to come together and discuss the topics that matter to them.
