Updates from our Policy and Practice Team – February 2026
This month's update across all four UK nations
Our February policy and influencing highlights show how we’re keeping occupational therapy visible across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
In England, the Schools White Paper confirmed an ‘Experts at Hand’ approach, with specialist teams positioned closer to children and families, and our influencing has strengthened OT representation in national community services frameworks as neighbourhood health reforms accelerate.
Across the devolved nations, we’ve continued building relationships and creating practical opportunities to showcase OT impact – from senior leadership engagement and positive media coverage in Northern Ireland, to manifesto activity and cross-sector work in Scotland, and direct Senedd engagement in Wales through ‘Meet the OT’ and workforce-focused reform discussions.
