An event designed to inform and inspire occupational therapists about becoming an approved clinician so that we can increase the number of therapists in this role.
The event is also for workforce planners, educators and strategic leads to think about how to create the right learning and workplace environment to encourage this change for the profession.
An approved clinician has overall responsibility for a patients care under the Mental Health Act in England and Wales.
For more information see OTnews November Do you know enough about the approved clinician role?
Learning objectives:
- To promote understanding of and interest in the approved clinician role
- To raise awareness of the value and contribution that occupational therapists can make as an approved clinician
- To provide clarity regarding the approved clinician approvals process and the experience required to meet the associated competencies.
- To provide guidance for educators and leaders about how to increase the opportunities for OTs interested in AC roles
