This online training via Zoom offers an opportunity for occupational therapists working with children (over 4 years of age) with developmental/neurological conditions to learn the CO-OP Approach.
You will learn:
- The rationale for using for using cognitive task orientated approaches
- The evidence for CO-OP
- The seven key features of CO-OP including dynamic performance analysis, guided discovery, and cognitive strategy use
You will experience:
- The use of dynamic performance analysis
- The use of global and domain specific strategies
- The use of guided discovery
- An evidence-based framework for practice
The course is made up of two stages. The first stage is three morning sessions:
- Monday 30 September 2024 – Half day AM
- Tuesday 1 October 2024 – Half day AM
- Friday 4 October 2024 – Half day AM
The second stage is a consolidation day which will be held in 2025. After practicing CO-OP in your own clinical setting, you will return to join a small group half-day session to present a case study, discuss successes and challenges with implementing CO-OP, and have an opportunity for further practice of the areas presenting the greatest challenge.

Dr Hortensia Gimeno Associate Director for Therapies (Research) Barts Health NHS Trust is an Occupational therapist and active researcher with a background in community paediatrics.
Anne Corbett MSc DipCOT has over 25 years’ experience as a children's occupational therapist and NHS manager of community therapy services and is also an Associate of Better Communication CIC.

Cancellation and substitutions: Refunds will not be made without a written request. Cancellations made 14 days or more before the event will incur a charge of 20% of the registration fee. Cancellations made after this date will incur a charge of 60% of the registration fee. Cancellations on the day of the event or ‘no shows’ will not be refunded.
