Specialist Section – Neurological Practice – Exploring the role of Occupational Therapists and AAC study event

A case study presentation of an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) user with different access methods; working together with Environmental Controls and Wheelchair Services. Using a communication device, is a powerful means of allowing an individual to maintain social skills, as well as personalization use in everyday tasks. We can evaluate access options, review complexity of assessment, and provide the support required to improve outcomes. Via a case study, this presentation explores the OT role within AAC and working in collaboration with relevant services.
