Due to the development of a new pre-registration programme in occupational therapy, an exciting opportunity has arisen within the Academic Team of Rehabilitation Sciences for a full time Senior Lecturer in occupational therapy. Applicants must be enthusiastic and visionary with previous experience of teaching/lecturing in a higher education environment within the occupational therapy field.
The appointee will facilitate the teaching, learning and assessment of several modules within the discipline area of occupational therapy and will be expected to act as course leader for the MSc occupational therapy (pre-registration) programme. This will also be aligned to continuing professional development via engagement with their own research, and allied knowledge transfer or income generation.
Applicants must have a recognised occupational therapy qualification, be registered with the HCPC and a member of the RCOT. In addition they will be educated to postgraduate level with a higher degree in a relevant subject area and experience of leading edge professional practice. Fellowship of HEA/ PgCert in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education or equivalent is also required.
Experience of teaching or lecturing in a Higher Education environment within the field of occupational therapy is essential as is experience of developing teaching and learning resources. Evidence of external esteem through publications, research or practice dissemination is also required.
Utilising a flexible and innovative approach to teaching, the successful candidate will be committed to the success of students and be able to show that they can effectively support learning and teaching in the classroom and in practice areas. Excellent presentation and communication skills as well as an ability to work to deadlines are also core requirements for this position.
