Age UK has today, 16 February, released its new report on the state of care for older people in the UK. The Health and Care of Older People in England 2017 report revealed that one in eight over 65s are now living with unmet care needs.
Commenting on the report Julia Skelton, Director of Professional Operations at the College of Occupational Therapists, said:
"If the Government is truly serious about preventing frail older people being admitted to hospital, helping them to remain living in their own homes and maintaining their dignity additional investment is needed now to support those who need help with basic daily living tasks. These are exactly the sorts of things that occupational therapists and their teams do day in, day out yet we have seen increasing numbers of occupational therapist posts cut. This report lays bare the shocking impact of financial cuts for thousands of vulnerable older people across the country."
