The Challenge
Occupational therapy researchers need to standardise delivery of an assessment for scoring study participants. The graded Wolf Motor Function Test is a complex upper limb tool requiring additional training procedures.
The Change
A stroke survivor, who is part of the study steering committee, consented to complete the tool and to be video recorded. This provided additional insight that how the therapist communicates can impact performance on the tool.
The Impact
A video tape of completion of the tool is available to enhance study fidelity. The stroke survivor had an active role in developing research materials. Provided the opportunity to enhance occupational therapy research to build the evidence base.
