Occupational Therapy students
Begw Jones and Lucy Morris
The Challenge
Due to COVID-19 restrictions and the shape of practice education in Wales, new occupational therapy placements were created. This meant many students were working virtually and had reduced opportunities for contact with peers, educators and teams.
The Change
We developed a peer feedback support initiative while on our Health Education and Improvement Wales placement. We piloted our resource pack and organised one-hour weekly sessions during placement - we found this had a positive impact on students.
The Impact
Protected time of one hour each week for peer feedback support sessions has been incorporated within the BSc Occupational Therapy programme at Cardiff University. This aims to support wellbeing and personal and professional development on placement.
