We also have a UK wide Research and Innovation Advisory group, focused on development of our new Research and Innovation Strategy. Our upcoming advisory groups are: Re-imagining pre-registration quality assurance (including a review of our learning and development standards for pre-registration education). David Lacy and Lindsay Truran from the University of Hertfordshire, who teach on the Research Methods module for the degree apprenticeship programme, will facilitate the session. To attend this café, please send an email to education@rcot.co.uk. By joining the café, you'll also become part of the Placement Café Network. Current opportunities within our profession Enter the CAHPO Awards by 3 June 2024The Chief Allied Health Professions Officer (CAHPO) awards are a unique opportunity for registered AHPs to receive recognition for their personal contributions towards delivery of exceptional care. The awards promote adoption and dissemination of good practice being delivered by nominated AHPs. They also give teams the chance to review their work and look at the impact they’ve made to services. The Awards are open to all 14 Allied Health Professions and are for NHS or publicly funded initiatives/projects. You can either nominate yourself or another AHP. The nomination period opened on Monday 29 April 2024 and closes at midnight on Monday 3 June 2024. Paid volunteering opportunity – become a visitor with HCPCThe Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) are recruiting for a paid volunteer role of ‘Visitor’. Visitors are responsible for providing their profession expertise to the assessment of existing and proposed education and training programmes delivered by education providers. This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved and help safeguard people using OT services by ensuring education and training programmes meet HCPC standards. Visitors also contribute to recommendations to the HCPC’s Education and Training Committee regarding the approval of programmes. Visitors must be registered and should have an understanding of the principles of quality assurance in Higher/Further Education or in a practice environment, as well as teaching, learning and assessment strategies in an educational or practice environment. In particular, HCPC are inviting those who are currently experienced in supervising learners in their current workplace to apply for this role. HCPC pay a rate of £82 for profession specific advice for the Approval Process & Performance review assessments. You’ll need commit to around five days per year. The length and notice for providing services are variable and can fit most diary commitments and working patterns. If you are successful, you will be required to undertake mandatory training before starting your role.
