Due to the successful growth of our postgraduate portfolio at pre and post registration, we are now seeking to appoint a lecturer in occupational therapy and a teaching and learning assistant in occupational therapy to join the school of health professions. We offer a range of programmes delivered in modern facilities and we have a growing reputation in learning, teaching, research and enterprise with excellent student feedback ratings.
As the teaching and research assistant you will have expertise and experience in occupational therapy and an interest in developing your research profile at doctoral level alongside a teaching role as part of the academic team. You will assist in the delivery of health and care professions education to both postgraduate and undergraduate learners for 0.6 of the time. The research element that will be scheduled for the other 0.4 will be in the area of public health and will be registered with, and supervised by academic colleagues from, the University of Plymouth. This post would particularly suit an occupational therapist with relevant experience in fields such as health improvement, health promotion or public/population health and, as this is a new and innovative area of research in occupational therapy, we are open to you making case for transferring your skills and knowledge from other areas of practice. The fees for doctoral study will be met by the school of health professions.
You will have already hold a masters or post graduate award in a relevant subject or an honours award with a BSc in occupational therapy at a 2:1 or 1st class level. You will have an active interest in developing a teaching role. You will be a team player who wants to work as part of an experienced and dedicated group of colleagues. You should be able to demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills and be able to work under pressure on a major academic study alongside a teaching workload. You will be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council or eligible for registration.
The teaching and research assistant in occupational therapy is envisaged to be a 0.6 full-time equivalent (FTE) contract that will run alongside a further 0.4 full-time equivalent (FTE) to engage in fees paid doctoral study at the University of Plymouth on a fixed-term basis for five years.
